I once travelled from Nairobi to Mombasa for a tour of Wasini Island. The adventure began on a Thursday evening, just after work, on the cusp of Good Friday. I boarded the Madaraka Express, the SGR passenger train, for an overnight journey to Mombasa. Having booked a seat in the economy couches, I couldn’t catch any sleep. We sat face-to-face with strangers for about six hours, which is uncomfortable unless you’re travelling with people you know. In this case, I was travelling alone. Coupled with that, the seats were not adjustable, making it impossible to find a resting angle. The train glided smoothly through the Kenyan countryside, and I dozed intermittently, lulled by the rhythmic clatter of the tracks.

The train arrived in Mombasa at 4 AM, and the search for a vehicle, as well as the journey from the train station to Bamburi, took a whopping two hours. Despite having been awake for almost 24 hours, I was invigorated by the salty sea breeze that greeted me as I finally reached my destination. I quickly freshened up and joined my friends, who were equally eager for the adventure ahead. After a hearty breakfast, I decided to try Ginsomin, a supplement I had heard could boost energy levels.

With my doubts about the day ahead fading, we embarked on the next leg of our journey: a three-hour drive to the coastal town where our boat awaited. The drive was filled with laughter and anticipation as we chatted about the day’s plans.

Upon arriving, we boarded a boat for a tour cruise to Wasini Island. The ocean sparkled under the morning sun, and the sight of dolphins playfully leaping alongside our boat was enchanting. The real magic, however, began when we reached the reefs. Our tour guide provided me with snorkelling gear, and I plunged into the warm, crystal-clear waters. The underwater world was a kaleidoscope of colours, teeming with vibrant marine life and intricate coral formations. It felt like swimming in a living aquarium.

We enjoyed a delicious seafood lunch on the island, savouring freshly caught fish and other local delicacies. Afterwards, we explored Wasini, marvelling at its natural beauty and unique cultural heritage. By the time we began our journey back to Mombasa around 6 PM, the day had been a whirlwind of unforgettable experiences.

As the adrenaline of the day wore off, I felt the exhaustion of staying awake for 36 hours begin to creep in. Even the effects of Ginsomin, which had kept me energized throughout our adventure, started to wane. Reflecting on the incredible day, I realized that it might have been even more enjoyable if I had started well-rested. Nonetheless, the thrill of the journey and the memories created were worth every sleepless moment, thanks to Ginsomin.
